New Student Orientation

Welcome to the Richland College family! For new to college students, your registration will take place at a required New Student Orientation (NSO) Session.

Due to the current situation, all in person orientations have been temporarily canceled. You may sign up for our mailing list here on our New Student Oriention Waiting List.

Before signing up for an NSO Session, you will need to do the following steps.

Step 1:
Submit Official High School transcripts and/or test scores. Submit your transcript and any TAKS, ACT STAAR or SAT test scores to the Admissions Office in Thunderduck Hall, T-170.

Step 2: Assessment Testing
To prepare for assessment testing and to print your Assessment/Test referral form or to determine if you are exempt or waived from the TSI Assessment visit the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment page.

Step 3: Get your vaccination
Provide proof of your meningitis vaccination to the Admissions Office. For additional information, go to Important Information You Need to Know about Bacterial Meningitis and Immunization Requirements webpage.

Step 4: Choices Career Assessment
Students are required to complete the CHOICES 360 career assessment before attending New Student Orientation (NSO). Choices 360 is an easy-to-use, comprehensive career exploration and information system. The Choices 360 databases of occupations helps students connect career and professional goals to one of DCCCD’s Guided Pathways.

To complete the assessment, visit the Career Center in El Paso Hall, E-090.
Hours of operation are
Monday – Thursday, 8 am – 7 pm
Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
No appointment is necessary.

Step 5: Sign Up

We suggest that you choose an early date so that you have the most choices for classes. Students beginning classes in the Summer or Fall term may begin to sign up online for an NSO session beginning in early March. Sessions will begin to take place in late April.
