For STEM careers, doing well in classes and earning your certificate or degree is a great start, but co-curricular engagement is also very important.
You need to demonstrate to potential employers or transfer universities that you have professional skills such as good oral communication, ability to work as a member of a team and ability to take a project from beginning to end. You also need to develop a network of people within the STEM fields.
The DCCCD STEM League is designed to help with your co-curricular development. Members receive regular information about activities and events that can help them as they strive to build their networks and achieve their career goals. This includes not only information about scholarships, events and coaching offered by the colleges of the DCCCD, but also connections to organizations and universities throughout the Dallas/North Texas region.
DCCCD students who are enrolled in six or more hours can join the league. You must also be pursuing a STEM field for your education and career.
