TRIO Upward Bound is a federally funded program designed to assist students in improving their academic skills, successfully completing their high school education, enrolling in and graduating from post-secondary institutions.
The TRIO Upward Bound program develops the academic and motivational potential of students in the 9th through 12th grades to prepare them for college success.
Upward Bound is a TRIO funded program. Richland College TRIO programs offer academic and college advising, tutoring in core curriculum classes, career counseling, assistance with college entrance and preparation for assessment tests (TSI, SAT, and ACT, etc.), cultural events, mentoring, scholarships (grant aid), financial aid assistance and more to eligible students. Along with TRIO's Upward Bound program, we also feature TRIO Student Support Services.

The Summer "Bridge" Academic Program offered to graduating seniors is designed to assist students in transitioning from high school to college by completing 6 college credit courses (2 classes of 3 credit hours each)
TRIO Upward Bound’s six-week summer academic enrichment program simulates a college environment by offering an intensive curriculum with individual programs of study geared toward academic needs and college goals. In addition, group activities are also offered to encourage the growth of self-esteem, leadership abilities, and social skills.
TRIO Upward Bound services are funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Educational opportunities are offered by the Dallas County Community College District without regard to race, color, age, national origin, religion, gender or disability.
