The AECI is an intensive English program designed to meet the needs of F-1 international students preparing to study in American colleges and universities or planning to work in fields where English is the primary language.
What will I study at the AECI?
You will have the opportunity to study oral communication, writing, reading, and grammar in English along with American cultural studies.
Who will teach me?
The AECI hires experienced, university-trained instructors of English for Speakers of Other Languages who have years of teaching experience.
Where will I study?
The AECI is located on the campus of Richland College in north Dallas near the communities of Richardson and Garland. The campus is easily accessible by DART public transportation system from all areas of Dallas.
Why should I study at the AECI?
The AECI is a college-sponsored intensive English program located within the city of Dallas. Its location on the Richland College campus provides students access to all the campus amenities, including state-of-the-art computer labs, the library, the cafeteria, and the gym. In addition, AECI students can take advantage of a wide variety of campus programs, student organizations and clubs, and performing arts events at Richland. The AECI is a very affordable educational opportunity. Tuition and fees are lower than most other programs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Most importantly, you will receive a full range of academic services which includes excellent teachers and knowledgeable academic advisors to ensure that you are well prepared to achieve your academic and professional goals.
When will I study?
The AECI offers a year-round program of study in eight-week sessions. The program consists of five levels of instruction. Students receive 20-25 hours of classroom instruction per week. The Basic Level through Level Four are offered in the eight-week format. The Bridge Program is a university-level program that offers transferable credit for up to six credit hours of instruction for students who complete the final level of instruction mid-semester. The Bridge Program offers college-level courses on English 1301 and Speech 1311.
To maintain the quality of instruction in our AECI, we will monitor enrollment for each session. If the enrollment may exceed our capacity, your application will be considered for the next available semester.
