Choral / Vocal Music

The choral music department at Richland College offers four ensembles covering a wide variety of musical styles.

CHAMBER SINGERS:
This is a large mixed ensemble. The choir performs a wide variety of choral styles. Audition is required.

VOX FEMINA:
This is a small select women’s vocal ensemble. The choir performs a wide variety of choral styles. Audition is required.

RICHMEN:
This is a small select men’s vocal ensemble. The choir performs a wide variety of choral styles. Audition is required.

JAZZ SINGERS:
This ensemble provides students with the opportunity to study and perform jazz style choral literature. Audition is required.

VOICE CLASS I:
This course is for non-voice majors. It presents the principles of breathing, voice production, tone control, enunciation, and phrasing.

CHORUS: OPERA WORKSHOP
Students learn and perform various opera scenes from a variety of time periods and styles. Audition is required.


Auditions at Richland College

Email Melissa Logan at melissalogan@dcccd.edu to set up an audition time. Prepare a 30 second part of a song to sing.

In the audition you will:

  • sing your prepared 30 seconds without a piano or track
  • Vocalize with me (sort of a warm up to determine range)
  • Sight read (do re mi) don't worry if you are unable to do this, IT'S MY JOB TO TEACH YOU
