The Richland College Dance Program provides a challenging teaching and learning environment for students that values diversity and develops artistic excellence, fosters creative and collaborative practices, and encourages personal agency and social responsibility in appreciating dance.

Our Program has an “open door” policy. All students, regardless of previous dance training or experience, are encouraged to take classes. You may enroll through credit or continuing education courses, beginner to advanced. We are here to inspire, support, and guide you in finding your niche. Our diverse curriculum is designed to meet your interests through the integration of the aesthetic, historical, critical, cultural and fundamental aspects of dance as an art form.

We accomplish our mission by providing students with a solid grounding in technique in multiple dance idioms, mounting student-centered productions and performances, hosting guest-artist residencies, and engaging in collaborative projects with other departments across the College.

We recognize students' life experiences and encourage all to express themselves through the creation and performance of diverse dance works. Professional collaborations with guest artists in the community include master classes, workshops, and performances. Our guest includes companies such as Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Nova Dance Company, Dallas Dance Company, and the Big Rig Dance Collective.
