Adjunct Faculty, Richland College

Jim Monroe holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York in Fredonia and a master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio. He began teaching at Richland College in January of 2002.

He previously taught for two years on the faculty of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and for two years as adjunct faculty at Northwood University, in Cedar Hill. He has taught event management and design online for more than 10 years for Cengage/Ed2Go.

Mr. Monroe worked as a professional, designing and producing events for leading industry companies for more than 40 years. He was design director and senior event manager for Gale Sliger Productions and scenic artist and design director for Bill Reed Decorations (now Wow Factor, Inc.).

He is certified as a CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) and CSEP (Certified Special Event Professional). Awards include the 2003 Texas Star Award – Best Multi-day Event, budget under $100,000; 2004 Nominated Best Designer of the Year – Event Solutions magazine; 2004 Texas Star Awards – Best Multi-day Event, budget under $100,000; 2005 Esprit Award (International Live Events Society) - Best Industry Contribution.

He is a member of International Live Events Associations (ILEA); Meeting Professionals International (MPI); and the Texas Association of Convention Operations Management (TXACOM).
