Complete the admissions process and meet with an academic advisor at Richland College.
Because so many of our technical programs are interrelated both in required skills and curriculum patterns, please review program and course descriptions carefully to see where your interests and career goals will be best served.
It’s critical that you consult an academic advisor, who can help you plot a degree plan that will align with your goals, whether it’s to go straight to work or transfer to a four-year university.
If you plan to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering, please ask your academic advisor about ensuring that you follow a transferrable associate degree plan in either the Engineering Technology or Engineering programs. If you plan to earn an associate degree or certificate, please note that you must complete 25% of your degree requirements at the college awarding the degree.
Dallas County residents pay $177 per three-hour class — that is $59 per credit hour, or just $708 for a full-semester load of 12 credit hours.
Compare that to what you’d pay elsewhere! See our tuition rates for tuition according to your place of residency.
If you are a Dallas County high school graduating senior, you may qualify for Rising Star funds to help pay for this program. The Rising Star program offers academic support services and up to $4,000 for tuition and books, if you have established financial need.

Engineering Technology courses are generally designed for direct entry into the workforce.
However, Richland College has several articulation (transfer) agreements in place with four-year institutions including the University of Texas at Dallas, the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of North Texas and Texas A&M University to transfer specific Engineering associate emphasis degrees into their bachelor’s programs.
Are you earning an associate degree in mechanical engineering? Students at the colleges of DCCCD who are earning a transferrable associate degree in mechanical engineering now have more transfer choices. A new agreement is in place with participating Texas four-year institutions to seamlessly transfer into a bachelor’s degree program.
If you plan to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, check with a member of the Engineering Technology or Engineering departments to discuss your transfer options or view degree and certificate options for specific transfer agreements.
