Dia Hadly works as a senior animator at Gearbox Software, where his knowledge and skills are pushed to their furthest reach. Also a husband and father who loves games and sharing his knowledge of animating, he has more than eight years and multiple shipped titles as an animator and says his work is still a joy and a blessing. Dia teaches ARTV 1341 Animation 1 and ARTV Animation 2.
He believes "hard work pays off and working smart gets you home in time for dinner. Nothing is more important than family, so working at your highest level is key to success in the work environment." At an early age he began drawing and expressing himself creatively, which grew into a passion learning the craft of 3D animation. He started out as an unpaid intern in Santa Monica, California, but quickly earned a spot on the team.
After working as a mocap artist (Raw vs. Smackdown 2006 and 2007), he was hired as an animator to work on a third-person melee game, Rise of the Argonauts. After moving to Texas, he became a lead visual animator and says the next step is "passing the knowledge on to eager students and animators who want to learn to play in the game industry." Being a part of games such as Borderlands 2 and BattleBorn has brought him to the realization of how complex animation and animation systems are becoming and believes his industry knowledge can benefit clients of all experience levels. His key approaches to animation are function, technicality and quality. See a demo of his work.
