Richland College has become one of the most popular international education destinations in the state of Texas. Whether you're looking to improve your English or just learn the basics, our English as a Second Language classes have something for everyone.
Before going to Richland College, I was afraid of people. I was afraid to go to the restaurant. I was afraid to go anywhere. And now, because Richland College taught me how to speak English, now I can go to the beach, to any place, to another state, and that's the reason I really enjoy all the ESL program, because I really wanted to speak English and they taught me how to speak English.
I can improve my English knowledge through writing, reading, grammar, and speaking.
What I loved when I was doing my research is the fact that they have small classes. Many classes are small. So I learned a lot. Smaller class sizes are specifically designed to help our ESOL students quickly begin learning English.
We can say the smart phone has become a very --
And our Multicultural Center provides personalized services to international students who are interested in attending Richland College.
One of the things that I like is that in the Multicultural Center there is advisor for different cultures, and they can tell you anything about the process, all information that you need, so it was really, really helpful.
The advisor helped me with the schedule, what class should I attend. That's helped me to meet my needs, like if I work all the morning, so I can take evening class, or even weekend. They have a class on weekends.
For more than 40 years, Richland has focused on teaching, learning, and community-building. Our diverse campus has students from over 130 countries speaking 79 different languages. All my classmates are from different countries, from Asia, from Africa. Korea, Japan, Venezuela, Brazil.
And I've met a lot of people from Middle East, from Iraq. I have a friend from Japan and all around the world.
I think I'm going to be the only, like, wearing the scarf on the campus, but when I came, like, I saw all the Arabic people here and they speak, like, English. I feel comfortable, like, and safe. It's like a multicultural class, but at the same time, you have to learn to communicate in one language.
Richland College is a tight-knit community that contributes to our students' success.
I love the ambiance. I love the atmosphere in the class. We have like, teamwork, which is really great thing. You can build like a relationship with other students and you just have fun with them. They become your friends, so you get to know everybody.
Everyone is really friendly. It's a really friendly and, like, welcoming environment. You feel like you belong here. They don't make you feel like you are, you know, from somewhere else. It's a really inclusive and welcoming environment.
I love the university. The university is my thing, everything all different and beautiful. I love it.
Richland College has multicultural students, and I speak Spanish, so I try to speak with Asian people, with native speaker from here, America, and that's why it helps me a lot, because my fluency got better and that's why I choose Richland College, because Richland College has a lot of different people, different students from different part of the world.
Your success starts in the classroom with dedicated faculty who are trained to work with multicultural students.
The college classes are really good because the teachers, they really care about your process, if you're learning.
To share all the knowledge they had, they gave me the time to answer any question that I have.
They will make that time valuable for you whenever you seek help, whenever you have question, whenever you're confused with the material. They will try to help you in order to succeed in college.
I think it's the best strive, if you want to study English in USA, you can choose Richland College first.

When I first told my friends in Turkey I was going to go to Texas, they were like, "Are you crazy?" Like, "You're going to the U.S. Why are you going to Texas state?" You know, they wear cowboy boots, they still ride horses, and I was like -- and they were like, "It's a dangerous place." And I came here and I'm, like, you know, I started talking to my friend like, "I love it here. It's not at all like that. It's like really great environment and everything is perfect." I feel like Richland is my home. It's the place that opened doors for me in the United States.
