Well the PAC program initiated at Eastfield College in a way for the manufacturer, Honda and
Acura, to create an opening or a training facility for students.
So that the dealer body has a pool or a
source to provide technicians to.
Like anything else, you have to start at the bottom and you have to make
your way up.
So, you know, we have people that start at $10 an hour, but I have technicians now that
make $100,000 a year.
So, it depends upon the time that is put in and the commitment because there's a
lot to learn and there's a lot of things to do.
Just because you graduate from school doesn't mean you
have what it takes to do everything that needs to be done on the car.
The career is a good career I've
been in it a long time and you know, most of my employees have been here for a long time as well, because it is a
good place to be, and it's a good career to have.
And the PAC program just really helps kids get started
The great thing about the program is that what it does, is it brings the students out of high
They can go into the program after they meet certain criteria.
And they can become
completely immersed in a way a dealership works [NOISE] and the way we work on specifically Hondas and Acuras.
The training program actually starts at the American Honda level, so they dictate the training that is going to
be taught at Eastfield school.
So it becomes extremely beneficial for the students as well as the
dealer body due to the fact that we get people that are learning specifically our product.
At the end of
the two year program, the students leave the program with an ability to work on Honda and Acura products.
They are completed roughly 70 to 80, 80 percent module-trained so this would be completion of self-study modules
as well as actual hands-on modules, which are done per Acura's requirements or Honda's requirements.
So these people basically come into our possession at that point and are able to work on the car.
And they can go to school two days a week and work for us 40 hours a week.
And we can assist them
with any training that they need or any other help they need during the school program.
