First Annual Rubber Duck Race

On May 4th and 5th 2010 the SGA hosted the first annual Rubber Duck Race. This was an event to promote fellowship amongst Richland students. As everybody knows the great Thunderduck is our mascot. Every student got a chance to adopt a Rubber Duck and decorate it after his or her liking.

All the adopted Ducks then participated in the great race on the center lake of our campus. Our school president Dr. Kay Eggleston started the race by tossing all the ducks into the lake.

In the end it came down to an exciting photo finish. Prices were awarded to the first three and the last ducks. There were also prices for the best designs and decorations.

Relief for Haiti

On February 25th and 26th the SGA hosted a Haiti Relief Drive. We were selling Krispy Kreme Donuts in the cafeteria area for that cause.

It was our goal to raise as much funds as possible to donate to the American Red Cross. The response from students and staff was overwhelmingly positive. We sold over 200 dozen donuts and together with other generous cash donations we raised a total of $1200.

The new SGA President and Vice President delivered the check to a representative of the American Red Cross.

Spring Conventions

We set legislative goals with state and national organizations. The next Community College Day is in February 2011. Stop by and tell us what you think we should be talking about.

We go to Washington D.C. each year for the American Student Association of Community College's annual Legislative trip.

We're also go to the TJCSGA State Convention each year. The upcoming convention is from April 7th to the 10th in Austin.
