Why Richland College needs a new Quality Enhancement Plan
Richland College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). A college's accreditation assures people that the college is viable and healthy and its credits will transfer. Accreditation also means the college is eligible for state and federal funds.
Richland College's next reaffirmation occurs in 2013. However, the work toward that reaffirmation begins now. A major part of a college's reaffirmation by the SACSCOC is a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The goal of a QEP is to improve student learning, and the information on this site describes the process Richland College will follow to determine its QEP 2013.
Rationale for the following process:
Determining a QEP topic is an energizing and uplifting process for an institution. This is a major goal of the described timeline. Faculty, students, staff, administrators, and other stakeholders participate in determining QEP 2013. Because the goal of a QEP is to improve student learning, faculty input is especially vital. This process is a great opportunity for spirited "community building" at Richland College.
