The Leadership Richland program provides an opportunity for students to explore and enhance their leadership abilities through working with other students and staff members. As a member you will participate in training sessions, seminars, and hands-on opportunities. The Leadership Richland program is free and open to all Richland College credit students.

Objectives

  • Develop an understanding of diversity as it relates to leadership;
  • Identify a personal philosophy of leadership;
  • Demonstrate strategies for articulating a vision;
  • Develop an understanding of setting goals, making decision, and building effective teams;
  • Understand the role of a leader in initiating change and helping others adjust to change;
  • Understand the process of conflict resolution;
  • Understand the concept of servant leadership.

September 23, 2011: Orientation / The Balanced Leader
October 21, 2011: Project Planning / Time Management / Team Building
November 18, 2011: Group Dynamics: Team Building Exercises (This event is off campus. Transportation will be provided to those needing.)
February 24, 2012: Project Planning
March 23, 2012: StrengthsQuest Presentation
April 20, 2012: Project Planning Presentation

Student Success Award Banquet

April 24, 2012, Garland Atrium. More information will be provided later.

Service Learning (20 Hours)

Participants are required to complete 20 hours of service learning in order to successfully complete the program.
