Sister-Cities for International Business

Dallas, Texas, USA & Saratov, Russia

  • 1993: The first contacts were made by members of Highland Park United Methodist Church who traveled to Saratov to explore humanitarian cooperation. Since that time, various Dallas community organizations have participated in joint projects with a number of orphanages, boarding schools, family shelters and other social institutions in Saratov.
  • 1999-2004: exchange of delegations from both to promote the continued growth of the various projects and programs in medical, educational and cultural areas
  • 2004, December 8: Saratov, Russia, was officially recognized by the Dallas City Council as a new Sister City.
  • 2005 – February 2007, seven groups from Saratov visited Dallas, TX, including the Governor of the Saratov Region Mr. Ipatov P.L. in May 2006.
  • 2005: Richland College joined sister-cities program and sent the very first delegation to Saratov to explore opportunities for joint project.
  • 2006: a pilot project between RLC and Saratov State University (SSU) – joint on-line course on Global Economics
  • 2007: three joint on-line courses were conducted for RLC and SSU students
  • 2006/07: Students at journalism department exchanges articles for RLC and SSU newspapers
