Primary Objectives

The primary objectives of the members of this Council are to:

  • Reinforce global education as a critical component of the institution's mission.
  • Conduct global education needs assessment for students, local businesses and community entities.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global education program at Richland College.
  • Allocate resources for research and development of curriculum, exchanges, and activities.
  • Provide leadership, support and incentives for international initiatives.
  • Promote access to global education and multicultural development for all learners.

These objectives are met through the cooperation of focus teams divided into four areas of primary responsibility: Advancing International Development, Globalizing Curriculum and Technologies, Diversity and Multicultural Development, and Faculty and Student International Exchange. Each of these focus teams is charged with a set of specific objectives under the leadership of a chairperson who calls regular meetings, provides direction for completing assigned tasks, and reports to the steering committee and larger Council.
