Writing Center

What is the Richland Writing Center?

The Writing Center at Richland College is part of the Center for Tutoring and Learning Connections. It provides free one-on-one tutoring to students currently enrolled at Richland College who want assistance with their writing. Tutoring sessions and group seminars also offered through the Writing Center provide opportunities for students to become better writers by learning how to develop their own ideas, edit their own writing, and use resources available to them at Richland College and via the Internet. In addition, the Writing Center supports faculty who incorporate writing assignments into their courses.

Why might I go to the Richland Writing Center?

To develop writing skills
To get help with specific writing assignments or tasks

What should I bring?

Questions and expectations for the session
Any assignment-related materials:

What if I don't have a specific assignment?

Although the tutoring provided is most effective when focused on a particular writing task, the Writing Center will help with any writing-related activity. To make the best use of the Writing Center for general skills improvement (rather than a specific task such as a class assignment, a resume, a business letter, etc.), we suggest that you bring a sample of your writing or have an idea of the type of writing you want to work on.
