Dual Credit

Dual Credit: it's a family thing

Physical Education activity courses are no longer available for dual credit as mandated by the Texas State Legislature. Therefore, the Richland College Dual Credit staff recommends talking to your high school counselor regarding the following PE options for HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT ONLY: 1) Check to see if PE will be offered this summer in your high school's summer school program 2) Ask your high school counselor if one of the three online PE course options from Texas Tech University ISD can meet your high school PE requirement. You may visit Texas Tech University ISD's website here.

The Summer 2012 class schedule is now available to view online. Registration for returning students begins Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Continuing Dual Credit Students may need to submit an Enrollment Form for summer course selections. Please check with your Dual Credit Advisor. Regular registration for new students begins Monday, April 23, 2012. Click here for important application and registration DEADLINES for Dual Credit Students.

The Richland College Dual Credit/Concurrent Enrollment Program provides a rare opportunity for bright, capable, and motivated high school students to receive college credit while they are still enrolled in high school. One of the goals of the program is to provide a positive collegiate learning experience for participating high school juniors and seniors.

Enrollment in college courses, especially during the senior year, allows a student to avoid the part of American high school culture known as the "senior slump." While enjoying the traditional ceremonies and rites of passage that accompany the senior year, qualifying students may also enroll in college freshman level courses that will apply toward an Associate's Degree and/or university transfer. This saves time and money for students and parents.

All high school students enrolled in college classes are held accountable to policies, rules, and regulations of the Dallas County Community College District. For more information, see www.dcccd.edu
