All full-time and adjunct faculty interested in developing courses with an ethnic studies focus are invited to learn about the process and rewards of creating these courses from other faculty teaching in the Division of Ethnic Studies.

Our guest speaker is a celebrated author who has mingled with the Russian Mafiya, polished propaganda in China, and belly danced with rumba queens in Cuba. Her adventures inspired her memoirs Around the Bloc: My Life in Moscow, Beijing, and Havana Mexican Enough: My Life Between the Borderlines, and guidebook 100 Places Every Woman Should Go. She won the 2007 Richard J. Margolis Award for Social Justice Reporting and was inducted into PEN in 2008.

Ms. Weiss-Armush is president of a network of over 1,600 internationally-focused civic, community and educational organizations in the DFW area.

Panel Discussion

Join local community leaders in this informative session on the current needs of various ethnic communities and how to build coalitions within the diverse ethnic groups of Dallas.

Crash, 2004
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in room D174
People are born with good hearts, but they grow up and learn prejudices. “Crash” is a movie that brings out bigotry and racial stereotypes. The movie is set in Los Angeles, a city with a cultural mix of every nationality.

A demonstration of mind-body renewal from diverse traditions
