Since 1989, the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) has sponsored an annual free event to encourage Hispanic participation in education at all levels. The event is called Dia de la Familia – Day of the Family. Today it is a multicultural festival celebrated by the community and hosted by a DCCCD campus on a rotating basis. The event will be held on Saturday, April 17, 12-4 p.m.
This year, Richland College has combined Dia de la Familia with Carnival of Steel, the premiere outdoor steel drum and percussion festival in Texas. Musicians from around the country will converge at Richland for a special day of music featuring incredible talent. By combining both events, expected attendance could reach 3,000 to 4,000.
