Intro to Women’s Studies
This interdisciplinary course will offer a critical examination of feminist histories, issues and practices. Emphasis will be placed on how concepts of gender, race, class, and sexuality have changed over time to shape people's lives in the US and globally.

Nonviolence
This class explores the theme of nonviolence from several cultural perspectives and invites students to develop nonviolent forms of communication in their own lives Students engage in reading, writing, practicing and discussing nonviolence as a strategy for change and as a way of living one's life.

Intercultural Competence
This course looks at issues related to developing intercultural competence. In this online course students read stories and lecture materials, watch six films at home, engage in activities, write about and discuss their experiences with other students in an online discussion board. Course Profile

The Vietnam War: Perceptions & Realities
Students in this course critically examine multiple interdisciplinary perspectives on the Vietnam War to explore issues of race, class and nationalism in the U.S. & Vietnam; the intersection of these cultures across time and space; and how collective memory of the Vietnam War continues to shape local, national and global history.

Sacred Image, Sacred Word: South Asia Studies
This course will provide students with an introduction to the visual and performing arts, architecture and literature that serve as vivid expressions of the cultural, artistic, and religious traditions of South Asia.

Media Culture/Consumer Culture
This course examines various aspects of the mass media and its relationship to American consumerism. Students learn to critically "read" media and to analyze culture through class discussion, reading, writing, and research.
