Career Overview

Health IT professionals are qualified to support the adoption and implementation of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), work with providers to select hardware and software, interact with EHR vendors, install and test systems, diagnose IT problems, and train practice staff on new systems. These fully online courses can be taken in any order, and participants may take as many or few courses as their time and study habits dictate. All course content is imbedded in the course, so no textbooks are required.

Length & Cost of Training

These courses can be completed in as little as one semester, while generally completed in two semesters. Tuition for the 356-contact hour Implementation and Technical Support Specialist certificate is $2136. Tuition for the 328-contact hour Practice Workflow and Redesign Specialist certificate is $1968.

Accreditation & Certification

These fully online courses will prepare health information technology professions to take the Certified Healthcare Technology Specialist (CHTS) competency examinations that are administered through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). CHTS assessment application information may be accessed online at http://www.AHIMA.org

Prerequisites

  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Documentation or assessment of entry-level academic skills in reading, writing, and math or previous college coursework
  • Minimum of 1 year IT or healthcare experience.
  • Documentation or assessment of computer skills - Windows, Word, or transcripted computer class
