An introduction to the history of the environmental movement, including basic requirements for
compliance with the environmental regulations. |

| An introduction to the components of ecosystems including energy flow and the structure and dynamics
of populations and communities. Students review the processes that affect natural environments,
examine the impact of human activities on ecosystems, and discuss current environmental issues.
Includes the introduction to current scientific methods of investigation and analysis of a variety of
environmental elements. |

| An historic overview of environmental safety and health. Emphasis is on the use of occupational safety
and health codes. |
| Principles of Industrial Hygiene | |

| Basic concepts in threshold limits, dose response, and general recognition of occupational hazards,
including sampling statistics, calibration, and equipment use. A study of the control of occupational
hazards and sample collection and evaluation methods. |
| Treatment, Remediation/Disposal | |
| EPCT 1043 | Hours: |
| A study of the skills required in treatment, remediation, and disposal processes of solid waste, hazardous
materials, and hazardous waste. Emphasizes the technologies applicable in the field. |

| Exploration of the options available for source reduction, waste minimization, and pollution prevention
including regulatory standards applicable to these activities. |
