Students learn why it is important to develop a plan before a crisis occurs. The content of an Eldercare Plan is introduced with specific attention paid to advance directives, insurance, healthcare choices, housing preferences, transportation options, application of technology, and developing real or fabricated extended family.

Learn from the experiences of professionals, elders, and adult children, each student builds a personalized Eldercare Plan that incorporates advance directives, estate planning, insurance, financial planning, healthcare, housing options, caregiving, emerging technologies, transportation, and support services. The emotional challenges of family dynamics, stressful care situations, and inevitable surprises are explored through interactive exercises and group discussions. Additionally, students become familiar with the often-ignored compensations, opportunities, and gifts of well-lived elderhood.
