Volunteer Opportunities

In the 1960s, Bob Dylan was singing
“The Times They Are A-Changin'.”
It's no different now. What's changin'
is that now you can make a difference.

“A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove,
What kind of house I lived in,
Or, how much money I had in the bank,
BUT the world may be a better place
Because I made a difference in someone’s life!”

You can make a difference in this meaningful and fulfilling volunteer program. Travel the world without packing a bag!

BECOME A BOOMER CONVERSATION PARTNER AT RICHLAND COLLEGE

  • No experience necessary! You are a partner, not a teacher!
  • Meet together each week with 2 or 3 foreign-born Richland students from different countries learning English as their second language.
  • They are struggling to make it in America and must learn our language and culture.
  • Meet with the same students each week and build connections.
  • Just simple conversation - you talk - they talk - you listen - they listen and you connect! And one day, their eyes open wide and they “get it”!
  • Hours: Thursday 6:00-7:00 p.m.

"Conversation Partners... a magic telescope through which the students see the U.S. more clearly. As volunteers, we see their lands and peoples in a new light. It is very rewarding and one of the brightest spots at Richland." Jack Lopez Klein
