Career exploration and planning involves a partnership between the student and the Advisor to understand the goals and aspirations of this individualized career planning process. Through a series of meetings, the student will have the opportunity to explain some of his or her ideas regarding a career choice, previous experience and expectations of level of education and other issues.

Then the student may take several assessments such as the Meyers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the Strong Interest Inventory (SCII), and the CHOICES assessment. The results will then be discussed and a plan developed to further explore identified career options.

My personal goal is to open the door to possibilities not previously discovered, work with the student in an environment of unconditional positive regard and respect, and be a resource and support system in the challenging, yet exciting, endeavor of career planning.
