It is a model for identifying the educational needs of a population of potential students, for creatively integrating campus services to make them work for those students, and for developing financial resources to support the educational progress of those students who do not qualify for traditional forms of aid. Adelante Program's founder is Susan Garza.
To serve a community - disadvantaged Hispanic/Latinos – that have waited for an invitation to prove itself in higher education. Additionally, Richland’s willingness to issue that invitation, and thereby to continue its longstanding commitment to serving all willing learners.
What has made Adelante work (formerly called Restart program) is the vision and dedication of its founder Susan Garza. Susan offered to the Adelante students holistic services, a reliable structure for providing them constant attention and communication, and access to financial resources. She provided access, support, and a one-on-one care to students that never had this opportunity.
